Need emotional support during a stressful time? Feeling anxious, alone or stressed? Want help getting along with family members while sheltering in place, or worried that depression could be setting in? We offer video-based counseling for those wishing to meet virtually with a therapist at this time. Our therapists are well-versed in working remotely. We do video-based therapy via a private and confidential, HIPAA-compliant Zoom platform. Booking an initial appointment is easy, we handle the paperwork digitally via Docusign, and then schedule you with an experienced practitioner well-matched to your goals and needs.
We have therapists in network with Seton Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Whole Foods, and also offer self-pay online therapy with experienced providers.
During these times, it’s important to get support. Connecting with a therapist has the dual benefit of helping you process your experience and optimize your mental health, as well as providing you with valuable emotional and social connection at a time when we are all more isolated than usual. Therapy helps you process challenging emotions, manage stress, reduce anxiety, ward off depression, helps you heal and grow relationships in your life, and helps you to keep moving forward in your life in a productive and healthy manner. We also offer online groups where you can connect with others who get to know you, discuss issues as a group, and benefit from developing better emotional, relationship and communication skills.
To book your first online therapy session, simply call or text our office at 512-469-0535 or email us at admin@austinprofessionalcounseling.com and we will walk you through the options and place you with a provider matched specifically to you. Don’t isolate–reach out! Now that most people have more time than usual is a great time to work on yourself, learn more about optimizing your mental, emotional, and relationship health and well-being, explore issues, and put the time to good use! We’re here for you.

Austin Professional Counseling™ offers HIPAA-compliant teletherapy services. More information below.
What is teletherapy?
Teletherapy is doing therapy online. You meet with your therapist, the same as you would in person, but via a private video platform such as Zoom or Doxy. Teletherapy enables us to increase access to care for clients in special circumstances. During the Coronavirus crisis that requires sheltering in place and social distancing, it is especially important to stay connected and supported. Teletherapy allows us to provide deep and effective therapy online. It also allows more convenient care for clients who live in rural or remote communities, clients who are home-bound with health issues or other matters, clients with very busy schedules, and those who prefer to. meet from their offices. Teletherapy can be convenient for clients who travel frequently, parents who need to be home with children, and clients who prefer the added privacy of meeting from home. Teletherapy also allows us to provide consistent meetings with clients who normally see us in person but who may be home with a cold or are traveling.
Who is eligible?
We offer teletherapy primarily to Texas residents for ethical and regulatory reasons. However, there are some exceptions, including certain clinicians that may be licensed in multiple states, or providers who offer coaching or consulting services.
How does it work?
We use a HIPAA-compliant, professional Zoom platform for most of our teletherapy services. Some providers may use a medical Doxy.me account, which is also compliant with all privacy laws. These services are encrypted and secure, and function just like Skype and FaceTime. We conduct therapy groups via teletherapy as well, and those are fun as members get to connect and bond in addition to engaging in therapy. Of course, meeting by phone (audio only) is also an option.
Payment & Insurance
Teletherapy sessions are charged at the same rate as in-person sessions for self-pay clients (clients not using insurance). For clients with Blue Cross, Seton, or Whole Foods healthcare plans, some of our providers are in-network with your insurance: During the COVID-19 crisis, the Governor has mandated all insurance companies to cover remote sessions (Teletherapy) at the same rate as in-person. Your fees for Teletherapy therefore will be the same as they would be using your insurance for therapy in person.

Once our office confirms you are a good candidate for therapy and teletherapy, they will match you with one of our providers and schedule your initial appointment. You will receive some paperwork to fill out and sign digitally, then you will receive a link to join the session at the time of your appointment. Zoom and Doxy work on any device: Smartphones, computers, laptops and tablets. It can help to use earbuds, or you can use the device’s native camera and microphone, just like you would for a video chat like Facetime.
